I did mine over the Xmas break.

I changed all three as only thefan control was lit and was a bit orangey. However either one bulb was faulty or I damaged it when fitting (and it was a tight fit) as only two light up and yes it's the fan control that doesn't light up!

Of the three areas the fan control is the least important IMHO.

I also tried to do the info centre bulbs but mine isn't the same as noted On a link, as mine has two bulbs which are small are and probably available from a motor factor.

A job for Easter me thinks...

Thanks for reply. I agree the fan control is the least important. But its annoying!!! Probably need to get out more....

I guess maybe a faulty bulb or damage on the way in, they are I tight fit. Oh well. I'll try again, but maybe with Lucas bulbs next time. Kept the blue covers.

It's very annoying considering I paid £7+ per bulb from Volvo. I looked for Lucas bulbs but couldn't find a match.

I totally agree, Baffler.

I just replaced the bulbs in the light switch panel and the heater control panel - what a difference!

Would not have considered it, without seeing this information.

I removed the surround for the stereo too, as I was replacing my stereo, for a 7" touch screen type and the heater control unit comes out with such ease, without this part in place - and just three screws to remove too!

Nice one! :-)

If you click the button in the bottom left corner and ask one of the moderators to move it they should oblige.

I've tried in the past but they don't receive my request. Something to do with my ISP.

Removed it all again and found heater control bulb was blown. I replaced it with one of the two I removed before that weren't blown. Success, so was the bulb that was faulty. At over £7 each though, not impressed.

Thanks for this great write up though, made the job really straight forward.

Bit of a charitable post here, would anyone mind sending me a couple of their broken ones?
I'm quite handy with the old electronics so would like to experiment with them.
If so, send me a PM
Many thanks!

Thanks for the info, we're changing the exact same heater control panel lights tomorrow (hopefully if we can get the bulbs).

Do we have to buy them direct from Volvo or can we get them from somewhere like Halfords?

I think but not certain but the heater bulbs can be taken out of there holders and new bulbs placed into the enpty holder then replace the blue cap.I looked into finding a direct replacement with the bulb alredy in the holder but could not find one.I think Maplins sells the bulbs but don't quote me,i am waiting for one of the heater bulbs to fail and them i will let you know.
