C30 General : Hoping to buy a C30; got some questions

Hi,

I’m new in the forum and don’t even own a Volvo yet. I’m presently looking for a C30. Not sure exactly which spec yet, but certainly a 1.6 diesel. It’s actually for my nephew who is a young driver so I won’t be going for a sporty one, to keep the insurance down. Oddly it’s cheaper to insure one of these than it is a 1.2 Polo.

Anyway, one question I’ve got right now is, is there a way to tell which sound system is installed. Would be nice to get the high performance version.

Also, are there any specific issues that C30’s can run in to? Looking through the MOT histories of the ones we’ve looked at on eBay, it seems quite common the the suspension arms and brakes to deteriorate, but that’s the same with all cars so I’m not seeing anything particularly bad.

One other question, is this forum a good place to find well cared for used C30’s? EBay is pretty bad, and I’m not on Facebook. I might join just for the market place if it’s worth it.
