Default XC60 - Should my rear side windows defrost?

I took delivery of my new XC60 a couple of weeks ago ... I have the orange/brown defroster strips across the rear window as you get on all cars but also three vertical ones down the rear-side windows (the little cargo area windows). The rear window and side mirrors defrost but not the cargo windows (I know this for sure as the car is covered in ice tonight so it's easy for me to check). In the manual it only mentions the rear window and side mirrors so I am thinking maybe they are not supposed to defrost but then why are there the three defroster strips? Anyone got any ideas? I thought the XC90 might have something similar.

Believe the shark fin is to do with the sensus infotainment system and sat nav for picking up 3G or 4g signal
Radio Ariel is either in side windows on estates and rear screen on saloons and hatch
