A good dealer would have made sure all the software was up to date before selling a used car.

I've now found the actual wording which was included in the software update schedule from Nov/Dec 2018, it reads:

Update of adjustments of lumbar and side supports that are set and saved in a driver profile. The supports are adjusted, as before, when the door is unlocked with a key connected to the profile, with the addition that they will be adjusted again when the car is turned on to take into account the actual pressure that occurred when the driver sat down in the driver's seat.

So that should partly answer the OP's question!

Paul

I'm going to factory reset the whole system. See if that cures the bug...

Did the full factory reset. Hasn't cured it...

After reading another thread I am certain that I have the latest version of Sensus software as I can save and rename Driver Profiles...

From what I have been reading these bugs do have a habit of building up until eventually a software update may cure them. Do I book it back into the dealers - will they be able to actually do anything...?

I’ve got the exact same problem and reported this as my car is in the second service today. (£450 for service ouch!)

I was told there’s a software update so hopefully that fixes it.

Quick update - the Lumbar poltergeist appears to have been exorcised... Not currently moving by itself. Odd!

I could do this as well before but there was still a software update for the car.

One thing I notice after update is the lumber inflates itself when i first get in the car then deflates quickly after.

Default Lumbar support

Been struggling for over two years with that on my 2017 XC90.

Lumbar support apparently moves forward when I park the car. This means that every time I use the car I have to push the memory button in order to move it back to position. Volvo has not been able to come up with a solution or a credible explanation. They did say that I should have the keys linked to a profile and locked, but it made no difference.

I suspect this may be a general issue in every vehicle, like a couple of others I have identified before.
