That link doesn’t work for me but the oil needs to be ACEA A5/B5

Sorry, now should be fine. Is specifications it says Meets or Exceeds Industry Standards

That is not A5/B5 .. not extended service interval which is what you have !

don't put more than 5.7 litres in either ...

I agree. We have four D5's and all high mileage (160k+ miles) and non of them need topping up between services.

Its the 185 engine, top it right to the top every week. No danger of it overfilling at the rate it's burning it off!
We have four D5's and all high mileage (160k+ miles) and non of them need topping up between services. No way should you be burning that much oil.

My brother-in-law had a Ford Cortina that used a gallon of oil a week until the oil pump drive failed and he had to rebuild it.
A gallon of oil was on the weekly supermarket shopping list. The car had very little rust underneath though.

I had a Ford Cortina Estate long ago. It would drive perfectly for 60 miles on the motorway and then would suddenly burn a huge amount of oil and fill the road behind with thick blue smoke for about 1/4mile. It would then clear again and carry on as if nothing had happened for the rest of the journey
