My sat nav screen has gone blank, it still pops up but that's it. Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Phil I think the Volvo satnav system on these models is a heap of rubbish - I rely on a Tomtom stuck to the screen - its a million times better. If I could disable the Volvo satnav to stop it popping up from the dash every time I turn on the ignition I would.

Sorry I can't help with your particular problem - but that's my view on the Volvo system.

Thanks Robbie,
I agree the system isn't up to much, and I hardly ever use it. It just annoys me that it doesn't work! At least mine doesn't pop up unless I press the button behind the steering wheel so I don't have that annoyance. I tend to use my phone sat nav mostly. I may just take the screen out in case a wire has come adrift.

Hi,

The Volvo SatNav is a bit clunky to be honest. I use my Smartphone on a brodit cradle.

You can stop the screen from popping up as I did that with mine on a MY08 S80. Use the controls on the steering wheel to shut the system down and drop the screen and I think it will stay down until activated again.

But it would be nice to be able to use the screen for something like forward and rear cameras when parking...

Des. . .

On the models fitted with a rear reversing camera the pop up screen works exactly as you suggest, Des, on selection of reverse - when forward gear is selected it reverts to travel information.

Mine won't "remember" the user programmable functions such as male/female voice, metric/imperial settings etc - it resets to the Volvo default settings when the ignition is turned off. Volvo quoted £1,500 or thereabouts for a new control unit! My Tomtom cost IRO £200 (no contest).

My sat nav screen has gone blank, it still pops up but that's it. Any ideas?

Phil - have you tried re-loading the Volvo CD into the reader in the boot? Other than that Volvo might be able to offer a software update.

I haven't tried reloading, I'll try that later.

How nutty is this. After more than a year my satnav suddenly decided to start working, it's been absolutely fine for the past month! I'm now hoping the amplifier will follow suit!

Self Healing Volvos! Now that's a great optional extra.

Just keep the option to yourself because I don't think Volvo know about it, and we don't want them charging for it!

I am guessing the pop up became an annoyance and possibly why Volvo changed the design making it integral to the dash? Looking at images of it, it looks like it blocks the windscreen view a little?
