Default Water sitting on sill/door

Hi All,

Noticed that I seem to have an issue with drainage, well at least I think that’s the problem.

I have recently noticed that when opening the drivers door that the bottom sill is wet. This isn’t allowing water to get into the car yet but after heavy rain you open the door and watch a fair amount of water run off the sill and a steady stream of water drain out of the door itself.

No other doors are doing it. I guess a drainage point is blocked but any ideas where I should be looking?

Default Water Ingress

Hi Cameron
Would you believe that I have the same issue with my passenger door. And I am looking for a solution. I own a MY 2006 C70, and after heavy rain when the door was opened water poured out of the door and the sill was wet, like you, the car interior is dry. On investigation I found that a small square hole had been made in the bottom of the door at the opening end. This was obviously something done by a previous owner. It turns out that water was gaining entry to the door via a gap between the window glass and the seal. What I don't know is how to correct it. So I am hoping some of the more experienced members will be able to help. I think it will require something to be adjusted, but I'm not sure what, or how to solve. Most definitely help & advice is needed.

If it is draining out of the door itself, check that the lower window seal is firmly in place along the door - my drivers side seal has a habit of riding up when the window is being closed but doesn't go back down when the window is lowered.

It is caused by the seals becoming hardened by sunlight & etc. over the course of time and grabbing hold of the window when it moves upwards .

I usually have to push it down into place a couple of times a week - I really must get round to putting some gummipflege on them.

Had the exact problem, and took me a while to figure out. Couldn't understand why the 'suede' kind bottom black trim was getting wet, especially since I had cleared the sunroof drains 2 years before.

See this other video where I explain why this is a recurrent problem
