Have you counted how many times the word MAY ( no not Theresa ) is used.

I think that the guide was probably written by Cameron and Osborne.

That was (MAY) first thing i noticed, yes

And i wonder is there someone who, maybe, has some more info?

Like- what to expect when calling insurer asking for green card?
Extra charges?

How exactly one is supposed to drive an after-accident claim in, for example, Germany?

Things like that. Practical approach.

Did no one ever go abroad before the EU Thomas?

Fret yourself to death if you wish but I will still be heading for Europe at least 3 times this year.

Past experience is in this case totally irrelevant until we know what if any of the new rules are?

Relax, let's see what happens and then make your decision.

At this stage worrying over what MAY happen ( see what I did there ) is a futile process.

Being prepared and knowing what questions to ask does no harm. I would add to the list checking out provisions for travelling with pets, as the PETS passport scheme is also likely to be suspended, at least temporarily, in the event of a no-deal exit.
Keep an eye too on what happens to mobile phone (esp. data) roaming charges, which may vary by carrier and overseas country visited.
I would also recommend applying for an IDP now before the post offices become totally inundated on March 30 if the UK leaves without a deal.
Incidentally, I haven't lived in the UK for more than 20 years and didn't vote, so this isn't meant as any kind of political statement and I won't engage in any political discussion. But I am the author of a book on driving in Europe (now in its second edition), so I do follow the subject with considerable interest.

Before the EU you could fly your car to Europe from Kent or Southend.
About £800 in today's money for a family car, two adults and two children.

Beats sitting in the queue for a boat or train. Now, if the government could just find a company with no planes, a bit of land that just needs a runway laid, could be ready for 1st April.

Driving in Europe will be what it is. All that's been announced so far is if taking dog, cat or ferret you need the rabies blood test done 4 months before traveling. Documentation of the injection will not be enough. IDP and visa still to be determined depending on what happens in March. If an agreed exit is reached then as you were.

As 'Julianpms' suggests above, obtaining an International Driving License is a sensible precaution. Likewise, obtaining an insurance Green Card should not pose a major problem. Depending on your insurer, there may or may not be a small charge for this. I seem to recall that the AA issued them FOC on request, as well as providing translation of the policy into many different languages. For many countries, little is likely to change.

Regards. John.
