I can't remember if it featured the 240 per ser- but volvos were featured fleetingly in the Dudley moore film "crazy people" where he comes up with the advertising tagline "Volvo- boxy but good"

Well one of my favourite movies Detroit Rock City about a bunch of kids driving to detroit to watch the concert in a stolen late 70's 244 (one of the kids mum's car) though it featured hubcaps from a post 86 car when that movie was supposed to be a period movie from the late 70s - early 80s. Well in the sitcom Scrubs, the two main characters drive a 240 until it burned down one day. In the movie Spy Game the target Brad Pitt and Robert Redford were about to assasinate arrived in a 1984-1986. Heaps of others but am too lazy to type now.

Back in the mid 1980's, my brother owned a chocolate brown 20DL estate which was featured in a episode of...wait for it...Boon !! I still occasionally flick thru the Sky channels featuring re-runs of Boon, in the hope I may see it again...

The Hand that rocks the Cradle. Very famous 90s film where the main character, usual middle class wife with super cute kids in the back of a beige 245DL.Also starring Rebeccca De Mornay the super sexy blonde baddie trying to muscle in on the family and murder the volvo 245 heroine with asthma Aaahhh

There is a good chase in Inner Space with a 740, there is an episode of McGivvor with a 164 driving alongside a railway line and boucing like crazy over the bumps, the 1800 in the Saint of course, the Back to the Future DeLoean has a PRV engine like the 260s and even looks a bit like a 780 and there are loads of bit parts like the Volvo truck in Christine.

Ever noticed that cars in Holywood films all have the headrests removed?

When I'm driving round I hardly ever see a 240 these days, the scrappage scheme must be taking its toll. However I see from the news that second hand car prices are rising 20-25% because of the reduced supply and the fact that fleets are not renewing their cars so some consolation I suppose. The other side of the pond it is a different story. I have just got back from a couple of weeks in New England and there are plenty of 240's out there still active and doing good service, it was a pleasure driving round seeing so many!

Default The West Wing=CJ's dad's 240.

In the West Wing Episode 'The long goodbye' from series 4. CJ returns home to give a speach at a school re-union. Her father is suffering from alzheimers, in one scene he is shown almost causing an accident in his old 240.

The scene is at about 1.02 in this montage.

Anyone who doesn't watch the West Wing SHOULD!
