Default Distraction needed...

Back in late July - when the weather was warmer and the days longer - I ordered an XC60 T8. The dealer warned me from the outset that there was a long lead time on delivery and after placing the order came back with a March 2020 estimate.

This has moved slightly to the right and I am now looking at mid-April.

Any suggestions of suitable distractions that might keep me happy for the next four to five months I thought about calling the dealer and asking for a long term loan "to check that it's still the car I want" but I suspect I know the answer

As long as you are charging it daily and that constitutess 80%+ of your main usage and I can see you live in London it's the right pick for you!

I could never be bothered to charge the thing so went with just petrol instead but if you can charge it - the T8 is the one !!

During much of the year most of my journeys are within, or on the edge of, electric range and it will get charged at home of course. I probably make one a week on average that will go beyond that and even then we're talking about 50 to 60 mile round trips.

A few times a year we go on holidays where the distance will be significantly longer and for much of those we'll be lugging around a couple of hundred kilos of deadweight for much of the trip - I am ok with that.

The reason for getting the T8 over another model in the range was threefold really:
  1. It's very interesting technology and I am genuinely intrigued to find out how it performs in various scenarios
  2. On paper it's a bit of a performance beast and a bit of a Q car at the same time and that always appeals to me
  3. If I am not too exuberant - I realise this flies in the face of the second point - I should be able to get significantly better fuel economy overall than my current diesel

At the end of the day I am very fortunate in being able to afford the car brand new which means I get exactly the spec I want... the downside is the wait.
