while i am happy there is a fix for you, US having to pay to see clearly due to manufs Ignoring the law,, boils my goat.
even when Correctly adjusted 90%+ of the "led lights" for nothing but style end up blinding oncoming traffic ,,and that is Without including the "suv" ****s cars, or the Massive % driving round with poorly adjusted lights and not giving a flying,,

"i can see " is as far at they get Zero thought/consideration to other road users. And the Manuf's fitting the led lights Need hauling up with the C&U regs, by the accountants !

Can someone tell cyclists to stop blinding me with their LED's

I read an interesting car lighting article once by a consulting engineer; he suggested that, from a drivers point of view, having super bright lighting directly in front of your car can cause your pupils to close slightly....reducing your field of vision as suggested earlier your eyes adjust according to the light available.

I wonder if when piloting a new car with all it's bright screens and dials its actually hard to see out of the thing, maybe you need bright headlights? in my car I turn down the dash lighting very low and it's then much easier to see out.

the cyclists annoy me too, i ride a lot but offroad, and when i am on the road i use the dimmer setting with no flash as i hate it when you see them coming towards you full brightness and flashing!

With regards to the newer cars, our V40 auto dims during the night so the displays are not as bright. not sure if others do this however i have seen others driving around during the night with their faces illuminated.

I hate cyclists that have flashing lights, now that is distracting. Standard LED lights for cyclists and runners are a life saver though, along with bright reflective material. I remember as a kid having lights on my bike and they were next to useless. It was like having a fading candle on your bike.

LED lights on cars are hear to stay. They are brighter, longer lasting, use less power. Like them or not, they are not going anywhere. As long as they are set right they are not a problem. If they are too high then they are brutal, no question.

“...boils my goat” - love it!! 😊
What boils mine is unnecessary/inappropriate use of rear fogs, esp. at night when raining. Always been a problem but with brighter LEDs now much worse. 😡

Interesting thread running on Pistonheads discussing night driving and cars equipped with headlights akin to the mothership...
