Next morning it wouldn't let me in, so I changed the battery in the remote, which had no effect, so I tried the spare remote, normally kept in the house. Again no effect, even with a new battery. I got in the car using the key to cancel the alarm, and tried a lot of tests. The remotes will occasionally unlock the car, if they are held an inch from the windscreen. Also if I use the switch to cancel the deadlocks, before locking with the key, it does not reset when the car is started. A test on the analyzer at a "non franchised" dealer showed no faults in the system, which they said was perfect. They told me I needed two new remotes at £207 the pair, plus programming. I do not believe that both remotes failed at the same time. My money is on the receiver. Is this located in the rear view mirror, and any ideas on cost. Can I change it, or does it require programming?
get the mirror ( UEM ) software upgraded first it may be worthwhile ... If you have to get a new mirror that updated software will go into the new mirror when it is reloaded ...

Default V70 remotes

thanks for the suggestions. I will try them, but i've just had unexpected domestic bill of several hundred pounds, so it will have to wait a short while, and i will continue using the key. will let you know when i've got it sorted.

Did you try your remotes at a location away from your property?

From your description of them working in close proximity to the windscreen would suggest the received is being de-sensed by another signal, or the batteries are flat - you've changed these so can discount that.

Let me know when you try this.

Mine is still the same new battery in either fob and it all works as it should for about 3 days then it stops working. I check the batteries and they have life still in them but do show a voltage decrease. Any ideas as £100 a fob is expensive fix!

I had a similar problem, but only on my driveway, turned out to be the wireless doorbell, £14.99 for a wired doorbell cured it, somebody on the forum pointed me in this direction by the way so it aint that unusual. Try taking the battery out of your bell push.

Hi Jim I haven't got a doorbell mate. The fob works ok anywhere for 3 days after I insert a new battery then stops working.
