Default XC70 Alarm Service Required

Hi Folks,
Noticed indicators were flashing the other night so reset the alarm, then started flashing again a few minutes later. Checked all the doors, boot and all showing correctly on dash. Still flashed. Tried disabling internal sensor, still flashing. Then locked with door key rather than fob only to get alarm sounding rather than flashing indicators. Ended up removing central locking fuse and locking manually to stop it. At one point I started it and got the Alarm Service Required message otherwise was just getting red led on dash flashing continuously. Spoken to Preston volvo specialist and he will try to see what diagnostics or alarm messages it gives.

I read about the alarm sounder on the older volvos but he is not sure this will be the same.

Any clues please. Car is 64 plate so not 5 yrs old yet.

Thanks

I had this problem on my '12 XC70 soon after I bought it second hand from a Volvo main dealer and they replaced the sounder. Luckily the car was under Volvo's Selekt warranty so it didn't cost me so I can't advise on what the cost would be.

If you had VIDA/DiCE you could get yourself a diagnosis so that you were forewarned when you took the car in and knew what they would be doing. In this age of complex computer controlled cars, owning a diagnostic program is as important as owning a set of socket spanners!

Thanks for the reply Tatsfield. Any else had this problem?

Will consider DICE for future. Does it all still work with the latest XC40/60/90?

Not after 2017 models as I understand it.

I use 2014D ( last cloned ver) and I can only go as far as reading 2015MY - which suits me as I have a V70 2015MY. I erroneously believed 2014 would only read 2014 year cars.

Cheers
Bob
