Default P&R Cars Leeds Ind Specialist - Flooded

P&R Cars, the well-loved Leeds independent Volvo specialist suffered flooding in the boxing day floods with up to 3 feet of water affecting all tools, spares, cars for sale, etc - everything.

If you want to see how bad it was, search 'Kirkstall floods' or 'Leeds floods' in Youtube. The garage is right behind the Shell petrol station where only the roof of a Mercedes is visible above the water.

I joined staff and other customers to spend the day mopping up.

It's a real shame as the team there are fantastic, hard working and don't deserve this, but in amongst all their difficulties, they managed to save the computers and paperwork.

Essentially, it'll be a few weeks (hopefully) until the garage is back on its feet.

They have no electricity at the moment (because the sub station next door was flooded and so too was their mains cables), so the phone number for the garage may not be answered for a few days.

If you have your Volvo booked in for work / service Bob or Peter will contact you.

I wish them well in getting it back up and running.

UPDATE:

After a monumental (no exaggeration) amount of work by the staff, P&R Cars should be opening today, two weeks after they were flooded.

When I visited on Friday, they were still cleaning and painting, but things appear much more ship shape.

For the moment, they can't offer all the services that they did previously but things should improve over coming weeks as damaged equipment is replaced, so the recommendation is to call them first.

Welcome back P&R!

If you want to see how bad it was, this video shows the Shell petrol station in front of P&R Cars, (look through the forecourt to the red P&R Cars sign behind). And yes, that's a nearly new US Ford pickup owned by a local bar as a promotional vehicle, they drove through deeper and deeper water until it drowned.

That's a Ford Raptor. Criminal stupidity if that's what they were doing, those Raptors are very cool (if like me you like that sort of thing).

Spoke to Bob and Peter this week regarding the clean up after the floods. They even managed to fix a simple problem for me this morning - a 2 minute job.

They aren't doing Saturday bookings until they get back on their feet. Hope it is soon as businesses like theirs keep our cars going and their knowledge and service is exceptional.

I saw some of the ruined cars (22 in total) including 3 that short circuited and caught fire. Heart breaking for any Volvo fan and especially Peter and Bob.

Hope they can get back to strength soon. They definitely have my business and anyone else I know with a Volvo.

Was sad to drive past P&R cars the other day to see it had been taken over by another dealer. Anyone know where Bob went?
