This is driving me mad - deleted and reinstalled a few times now, paired via phone using the Sensus provided code and I just get the spinning blue circle of nothingness - has anyone yet been to a dealer and got them to resolve this issue, just that I'm not altogether certain what a dealer could do differently?

Fixed it!
Using the "Sign In" option, not the PIN, I signed in using a different account and hey presto, started worked straight away. Appreciate not everyone might have a second Spotify user account in their household but worth a try if you do.

Well that's downright weird and suggests there's a cache/system memory problem with Sensus! Doesn't help me tho unfortunately as only have/need the one account. Spoke to my dealer yesterday and they'd never heard of the issue so pointed them to this thread and asked them to work out a position/resolution with Volvo Uk

Yep sounds like it.
Not sure if it would work just to clear the cache, try taking out a free subscription, log in with that and then delete/re-install and log in with your original premium account. Might just do what needs to be done to clear the cache and get you up and running again.

I think someone tried the battery off/on thing to reset Sensus but that didn't work neither. It might be the app rather than Sensus but who knows...Volvo certainly don't seem to.

If it was the app I dont understand how it works for some and not others ..... unless there are multiple versions of the sensus build across models and/or MY models and Volvo haven't done the proper compatibility test .... perish the thought!!
