Do you use the so called " hand car washes"? They often use truck wash degreaser with a pressure washer. This damages the wax on the surface of the plastic mouldings. Heating it with ahot air gun can bring the wax to the surface and give a short reprieve but won't last. I have tried it .There are some paint/ dyes available but they don't last as claimed but flake off leaving a patchy finish after a few months. Try turtle Wax " Liquid Shine" car polish, this can be used all over car including plastic and rubber parts . It lasts just as long as the other products but also gives good results on paint.

If you want a trim restorer to have an effect that lasts more than a few weeks (and this applies really to any surface product designed to improve looks) its imperative the surface is clean.
