Default Control arms

Hi there,

Can anyone send me a link or suggest good brands for front lower control arms. I got a price off Volvo & they're £95 each. Are there any cheaper alternatives, but still fairly decent in terms of quality?

Also, are there any sites that you may know of where I could purchase a complete strut that bolts straight into the car - I think they're referred to as a 'quick strut' if I recall correctly.

Its a 2007 S80 2.4D.

Thanks for your help.

From experience, there's no such thing as a good and cheap control arm so you buy genuine Volvo and forget about it.
Mine were £112 each, have lasted 5 years so far and still look great.

+1 Lemforder are very good after market part manufacturers, from personal experience with older cars where supply of OEM suspension parts was no longer available, the Lemforder replacements far outlasted other after market parts. But they were not that cheap which is why I agree with the CheshireD5.

I've heard that Lemforder are good, so thanks for that suggestion.

I've watched your video on YouTube cheshired5 when you replaced your control arms on your car - Very informative indeed. I'm going to have a look at the condition of the bushes on mine before ordering anything.

Smile alu or steel ?

hi kev, what miles have yours done?, you used to be able to buy the bushes individually (lemforder sell like that also) and press them in but only makes sense if you have a press or tools to do it, the 06 cars seem to use an alloy casting but soon after think they went to a steel pressed type, volvo exchange the earlier variety if your sourcing through a dealer (i guess they recycle them)

Hi Thassos,

102,000 miles & the car is a 2007 plate, but I haven't got a press unfortunately.

£95 each for new lower control arms from Volvo. The bushes would probably be cheaper if available individually, but I'd have to pay a garage to press them in. So, its probably as cheap to replace the whole control arms by the time the garage labour costs are paid.
