Default Shocking Radio Reception

Hi guys,
I've searched for an answer to this problem but can't seem to find one...

I've recently put in a sony head unit to replace a HU-655 unit. Since doing so the radio reception is shocking, It can scan all the way through and not find a signal and when it finally did it was really bad and crackly.
The signal was fine before and the sony unit was fine in my old car.
Does anyone know what it could be of if I've missed something when installing it.
I did hear somewhere (think it was my old car forum) that it could be that the amp has an aerial signal booster within it?

The wiring harness adaptor did have 2 additional wires on it, CAM hi and low, I didn't plug them into anything as dont know what they're for!!

Any help much appreciated
Cheers

You don't use them wires,

Sounds a stupid question but have you plugged the aerial into it, the seperate gray connecter that needs an adapter to fit into anything else but volvo radio,

I find radio reception to be quiet good in volvo's, well compared to my peugeot 406 anyway

Thanks for the quick reply
Yep I've got the aerial adaptor and all plugged in.
So those wires aren't needed then?
Thought it might be the earthing but cant see why it should be as it was ok before...

Hi again,
I've just been looking at the back of the radio and playing around with the aerial.
When I unplugged the adaptor from the back of the radio i lost the signal completely (so thats working!), but when I unplugged the adaptor from the car (aerial) end it didn't affect the signal at all!
I've had a look at this ends connection and there doesn't seem to be a way that this connection cannot be touching, but i'm presuming that is what it must be. Will have to look in the daylight.
Has anyone else had a problem with this?
