In which case I think you are very lucky to get 30+mpg.
I'd probably only get 24 - 28 at most ( more likely the lesser).

@RICH118

Find your tyre sticker for rec Eco running (should be on B pillar open door or just inside the fuel filler cover)...should state 39psi against Eco running.

32psi has been found to cause excess tyre wear on the XC90's over the years just a heads up.....higher tyre pressure may feel firmer than you are used to but is kinder to the tyres and power steering etc.

Much discussed about this in other threads on here.

I have to say I've been taking it steady and not sure i could achieve more without a long motorway run. If everyone agrees the 185bhp is the most thirsty is a remap worth considering ?
I inquired on here about a remap when i first bought my XC90 and will not make a difference to fuel consumption apparently ......check out the threads on here about it sorry i cant remember where it is on here but somebody may be able to post the link .....it has been quite thoroughly discussed.

200BHP D5 here and doing a mixture of driving each day (Country roads to motorway to town center). I get 30MPG on average.
Will check the tyre pressure. 39psi seems a lot!

That is the Volvo recommenced ECO pressures for the car. IMO, doesn't cause any comfort/noise/grip issues and I run my tank for 10 years with those pressures.

I run my tyres at 39 psi have done for years, the other thing that really helped my mpg was the pcv valve had it changed and made a huge difference to the way it drove and 2-3 mpg better off.

I have a 60 plate 185 engine that has the Polestar upgrade, I get between 29-31 MPG day to day on A roads.

I was shocked by the torque and acceleration from it, its addictive! I didnt buy an XC90 for pace, but it is no slouch!

Hello Di66oss, you would be better and likely to get more response if you posted you question on the XC90 Mark2 forum (2014->) ... see here

On my 185 I get 30 mpg ( 32) on dash , but I've found myself doing a 400 mile round trip each week , so this week I reset the dash and tried to stick to 60ish mph for the 200 miles, dash says 45mpg average ! Never seen that before ,and the trip only took about 20 minutes longer
