Default Does anyone have a definite answer on 1.9d hesitation

I have a hesitation around 2700 rpm like car looses breath while accelerating hard.
I did read somewhere there were people with this symptom also but cannot find it now.
Does anyone have the definite answer what is causing this?
Car has no errors stored (according to generic odb2 scanner) except glow plug error but starts without the problem

Have you checked the fuel tank pick up? >See here<

And when was the fuel filter last changed?

Fuel filter was changed some 5-6 thousand miles ago.
It happened alsi after the filter change so I've ruled the filter out.
Will take a look into tank pickup.

Had the same with mine.Started surging and hesitating at about 2500-2750.
I disconnected egr plug and it now drives perfect, and doesn't put eml on dash either.

I had the same issue and it was the MAF sensor - no engine light however it did have a fault code displayed when plugged in.

The MAF is easy to change and relatively easy to get hold of at a reasonable price which personally I'd be inclined to try before worrying about the EGR valve. They are however £97 from Euro Car Parts (before discount). A local breakers or ebay might be your best bet. Best of luck!

No errors stored for MAF, here it is bloody expensive (140pounds with discount)
so will try to find a used one.
I never cleaned the egr (never was able te remove the inner part of it)
I did clean the manifold (wasn't very dirty and the outside of the inner egr part).
I can move the piston easily by hand if I push that metal knob in the middle of the egr so I guess the egr is fine and not stuck.
This hesitation is not constant it happens here and there but is annoying when it happens.

The centre of the egr may move in and out, but the electrical part may be shorting out and causing issues with other systems in the same circuit, dropping the 5v reference to other circuits.Thats what happened to mine.
Seen it loads on other egrs and other makes.Worth a try

I had already changed the MAF for a new one, but hesitation and surging was still there at approx 2500-2750,it felt just like the throttle was being pressed and let off slightly.I just pulled the plug off the egr and problem solved.I come across it a lot in my job when egrs short out and drop the 5volt reference voltage to the other sensors.I'm an RAC patrol, plus I was a VOLVO tech for 10 years.
Try it, it'll take you 2mins to do it,it'll save you a lot of money buying a new one.Just tuck the plug out of the way so the mot man doesn't see it's disconnected. It won't harm the engine,it will make it more responsive.Hope that helps.
