Default Ecu Megasquirt , sibele challenge 5 , Vems

hello everyone, given the problems I have in my volvo s40 t4 1.9L b4194T with many mods, witness failures in the frame due to combustion chamber issues such as camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor and atmospheric pressure sensor failures, (partly due to the pressure with which the motor is working), the Siemens ems2000 ecu is very limited in terms of parameters to be altered, I have decided to mount an independent ecu, someone who can advise me which one?

Bloody hell MageSquirt..... that's a blast from the past for me.

In about 2002-2004 I built a turbocharged Triumph Spitfire using MegaSquirt.

I had a turbocharger from a MG Metro Turbo, but rather than use the blow through carb I wanted to go one better.

So I built and ran it with a Megasquirt 2.0 system, using

- Crank position sensor welded to the front pulley
- Ford EDIS coil pack (removed the distributor)
- Metro turbo Garret T2 (oil fed from a T-piece on the pressure sensor and return into the hole left by the distributor).
- Volvo 740 (normally aspirated) injectors & high pressure fuel pump
- Volvo 740 Turbo fuel pressure regulator
- 4-1 exhaust manifold made from stainless dairy pipe bends
- Fuel rail made from 15mm copper pipe (perfect fit for injectors)
- Rover MG K-series throttle body
- Cant remember what sensors (coolant, MAP etc.)

Given how little I knew what I was doing at the time it was a small miracle that I got it to run, and eventually run fairly well after much experimentation. But probably doubling the power of an already fairly fragile car is never a good idea without other mods and I reverted it back to standard when I'd cooked my second set of brake pads and the diff started to whine...

Anyway the point is the early MS systems were cheap and easy to use but the 16x16 map was quite limited.

I worked a few years later on a MS3 system with O2 sensor feedback on a (none turbo) Rover V8 kit car.

Based on what I know - I don't think it would be much good for the T4 but I just wanted to share my fond memories.........
