V70R under tray, rain issue - Page 2

So, I have done some research in to this and the best fix seems to be the removal of the front resonator box, replacing it with a straight length of pipe. There are numerous videos and chats re this on US websites; has anyone on this forum had any experience of this fix?

whats the front resonator?

AFAIK you have a downpipe, a cat, a rear resonator and a back box

As mentioned I've had this contact sound in wet weather on a V70R when driving through standing water, however thinking about it the car had a standard R cat back exhaust. I have not had an issue with contact sounds driving through standing water with cars with stainless steel cat backs.

Thank you for that. I have a BSR cat back and will get the garage front near side and centre drive shafts for signs of contact.

Mine is std Volvo V70R and never had rain squeal. Resonator removal is the USA "fix". Depending how sever the squeal, I'd try grinding the resonator end ridge, or trying to bend the exhaust a little, you only need mm's

I bought this one off eBay, last year.
Brand new, for about £50 delivered. (UK)
Fitted perfectly.
Helps keep the engine bay cleaner too.
