Varta/Bosch (same, both varta) Silver or blue, Yuasa, Volvo.
019 is battery type. I highly recommend Tayna.co.uk too. |

Check the price of a replacement battery from Volvo. They can be reasonably priced compared to aftermarket alternatives.

Put one of these in my S60:
https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/yuasa/ybx5019/ The original was getting weak, don't think it was ever changed before so not bad for 17 years service. |

A rule of thumb for lead acid batteries (including AGMs) of similar capacity / spec is the heavier it is the better. Suggests thicker plates. Not infallible but a good indication especially when on line shopping.

Changing the battery - turn off engine if on and wait 15 mins for it all to shut down. Make sure you have the right bits to unscrew clamps. Undo the positive then negative and haul the old one out (mind your back). Put new one in and do up clamps and attach positive. Turn ignition to position II so lights are on when you connect negative as this is supposed to protect circuitry but probably doesn't matter. Attach negative swiftly to avoid sparking. |
