While you are there spin the clutch. Any noise and the bearing is on it's way out. It's a fairly rugged double row cylindrical roller and it took me a few months to track down the droning noise at 1200 rpm.
It's possible to dismount the compressor leaving the hoses connected and rotate it enough to make working on the clutch easier if you do need to remove it. |

You gotta love the forum for cheapo bodge fixes (and cheshire's videos), a/c working albeit low on gas thanks to some 0.6mm welding wire - clutch gap is now around 0.4mm down from about 1mm.

I think my zircon clutch gap needs adjusting, as usual works ok when engine cold then fades a bit.
However, the aircon compressor is different on my 2007 V70 2.4D - the clutch is different. Anyone reshimmed one of these clutches with the compressor in-situ ? It's like this one: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rc...69487276319281

Does anyone know the voltage for the clutch switch for the compressor?
I have 12v at the main power plug but the clutch switch is a weak feed. Admittedly i only tested with a test lamp not a multimeter. Ive changed the compressor and removed a shim to gap the clutch to 0.5mm but the compressor still fails to engage. Any ideas guys? |

Ive got 12volts down one of the twin plug then only 2.5volts down the single wire plug. Think i had a bad earth tho as only lit lamp dimly. Put a feed straight onto battery for the twin plug and still not kicking compressor in. 🤦🏻*♂️ No faults showing on my delphi laptop which worries me
