Ah well, I've been thrown a bit of a red herring here................when I ordered the seal I said it was for the N/S of the tank & my man in the parts dept said it was the pump, it's not though is it? I did wonder as there are no pipes or plugs visible & I couldn't work out how they got to it.
I don't suppose anyone has a parts drawing, I can only find petrol ones on the net

If you mean the seal that fits under the big plastic threaded plug, I’m sure they’re the same on both sides.

The locking rings are definitely the same size for both the pump & sender unit openings (I've replaced both in the past) so I presume the seals are also the same size.

Champion, I'll have to wait for the fuel to go down a bit before I tackle it...........now that I know what shape the tank is..........could have been messy that I've ordered the proper Volvo tool aswell.

Well that's the tank seal changed, someone had been meddling previously & the whole channel for the O-ring was full of muck & tiny stones & stuff with the seal plonked on top (sounds like the issue you had Longhouse21)

Also sorted my heater panel illumination using a previously enjoyed one from the scrap yard.

So now that it seems to be sorted mechanically & electrically, it's time for the cosmetics. I had the front bumper off on Sunday to replace the bottom grille which was smashed, only to find the plastic bumper support all broken at one end. So for now I simply drilled it & cable tied it back together until I can get back to the yards for a replacement. Also the O/S headlamp mountings are broken off so will grab one at the same time.
I could do with an O/S/F wing in Cosmos? Blue (450) as mine is a bit raggy round the wheel arch
