Is the V power really worth double the extra over the old Optimax?
Is this price difference the same everywhere or is my local garage just charging too much - they say they don't set the price!...
Bloody hell fire when did that happen?? Its still only 6-7p more expensive here than unleaded.

I think you'll find that they do in some format or another. I've never seen such a difference in all the stations I've been through someone is taking the pee!!!!!!!!

82.9 ppl unleaded and 88.9ppl at my local Shell (well it was a few days ago now I don't know)

V-power 91.9p/litre at my local shell

During that recent-ish fuel shock, BP ultimate touched 107p/litre in places!

Same price for me for the last few weeks = 91.9/l
Shell service station at Shooters Hill/A2 Sun in Sands roundabout.
Seems to be the same at others locally too.

Depends on the franchise to some extent, but the price differences you see are to do with local competition, rent, volume that the gararge buys (is it an indy 1 off in the sticks, or a city set up with a few forecourts in the group). Good old supply and demand. Having said that, I'm sure that the petrol company sets some pretty clear guidelines.

One thing which is such a rip off is the fact that two petrol stations of the same company just a mile apart can have a price difference of 3 to 5p/litre!

Why? Coz one is a local place and one is at a motorway service station!

Well that's my experience of round here, anyway.

Same here mate..

Motorway services are outrageous because they have a sitting target, who's going to drive to find a cheaper one when it could be miles away? I try to avoid them at all costs if possible, when I get caught out it always hurts.

There are 4 Tesco petrol stations within a 5 mile radius of where i live and the one in Barking is 5p a litre cheaper than the one in Barkingside, both are Tesco Supermarket not Metros, Anyway back to V Power i am on 340 miles with 15 miles left on the trip so i am getting 50 more miles to the tank than on 99 ron,

Gary,

Gary,
Wow I'm suprised by that difference 50 miles is not to be sniffed at, that's equivalent of 2 gallons in my car or nearly £8

Put Tesco 99 in my car recently and I am suprised how quickly its going through it (tank Very empty when added)
