Hi,

A new downpipe and cat is not going to be cheap.
Particularly not if you have them in stainless steel...

If you do find something cheap - the likelyhood is they won't last and will prove a false economy...

Hi,

If your car is produced after 1991 you are required to have a cat. NO?
With a 100 element sports cat, it negates the need to remove your cat for "performance" or for having some sort of "by-pass" system.

Your car is required to have it so leave it on. Whats the problem with that?

I keep in stock here in the UK the premium Ferrita downpipe with Kemira/Ecocat 100 cel cat. It is priced at £520 plus VAT, that is a very good price compared to cheaper offerings from BSR and others which incorporate 200cel cats....

I believe it was August 92- manufacturers were required to fit cats by law, but they are not required for MOT as that is an emission test not a cat test. Grey area?

I was quoted £350 approx for a custom 3" downpipe and race cat for my T4 by a local exhaust place (www.infinity-exhausts.co.uk), I'm also going to try and get a quote from longlife which has a branch not too far from me...

I noticed on parts for volvo online they state cars with the latest OBD2 diagnostics need 200 cell cats?
http://www.partsforvolvosonline.com/...?cPath=104_593

I don't know if this is true though I suppose a 200 cell would be more restrictive??

Hi,

I have the 200 cell sports cat on mine, and I can't say it is restrictive.
With the SS exaust back from the cat, the most restrictive part of the exaust would be the down pipes/manifold now...
