Can you get the Google maps traffic reports on the new XC90'S display panel?
A live feed of the current traffic situation would be great.

A live satellite view would be better of course

Dunno if you get google maps on the xc90 but somehow such a perfect solution is bound not to be the case.....

I have already bought my brodit mount for the new car so i am ready with the phone holder to run maps when it arrives. If it actually runs google maps in the car i will be so happy that i wont even notice wasting 20 quid on a brodit mount!

Agreed Google maps is brilliant and has saved time on my journey on many occasions in my old XC90. I've been waiting for the new brodit mount to be released for my new XC90 - hadn't checked for a while so I will go and have a look now and get one ordered.

If I can get my phone mounted properly then it negates the need for the traffic alerts and I will turn them off!

Have you gone for a passive (non charging) or active (charging) brodit mount?

I was prepared to have trailing cables in my old XC90 to power the phone down to the "cigarette lighter" socket but I was wondering how easy it would be to get a direct connection into the fuseboard (via Molex connector?) and have the wiring hidden so that it all looks nice and tidy.

I have a Samsung S5 and a S6 edge both in cases which makes getting an active mount quite difficult. So I have a basic adjustable mount (listed as for an S3 with a case on it) which works perfectly for both phones. If I need to charge then I just run a cable which is not too much hassle. I also sometimes run iplayer radio through a lead to the 3.5mm phono in, but can't do this and charge at the same time as there is too much electrical noise. Can send you Brodit part numbers if you need.

I stayed away from the "edge" versions for the exact reason that I didn't think there would be a custom made mount.

I've currently got an S5 - I've already got the mount for the phone, just need to get the part that fixes to the car. DSL Developments website is very useful.

The edge is very slick and tactile but i am not sure it is worth the premium over the standard s6.

I got my mounts through Amazon either direct or through the DSL shop on Amazon.

The Brodit website is also excellent for finding part numbers. I like the clever way they just create a mirror image of the mounting instruction photo to turn from rhs to lhs. You can see the speedo readings all going in reverse......
