Default Got Caught Speeding, No Wonder Its Seen As A Cash Cow!!!!

Not a happy bunny. Driving my daughter and her family to Stanstead on Tuesday in the S60, just keeping up with the flow of traffic, not going faster than anything around me! Clear/dry weather conditions, not busy, excellent visibility all around and in no way driving beyond the limits of the car or the conditions.

I was travelling south on the A14 (dual carriageway) having left the A1/M about 1 minute previously. There is a very slight bend in the road and when I rounded it, there up on a bridge was a dark blue speed trap van. By the time you see it its too late and 2 days (2 DAYS!) later I've received an intention of prosecution, as I would imagine has everyone around me! My speed, a massive 80 mph!!!!

Now I realise I've opened up all the holier than thou brigade who will say its my fault and if I wasn't speeding etc etc, but I believe 80 is an unwritten speed that most people travel at on this type of road, and if that was a human being in a Volvo Police Car would he honestly have pulled me (and all the cars around me) over?

In my eyes its not a safety camera, its a license to print money! It was placed in an area where it was hidden and gave you zero chance to react. Again, I know if I wasn't speeding this wouldn't have happened, but like 99% on here I'm human, and I still don't see that a law that was temporarily introduced when cars were barely able to do 70 is relevant today.

When was the last time you saw these vans parked near a school at 8:30?

Cheers all.

You were unlucky.

You were speeding.

The two came together, that's all.

Limits seventy mate you were doing eighty you got caught be more carefull next time i got caught doing 130 on a empty motorway recently at three in the morning by a unmarked car luckily the police driver was car enthusiast and we got chatting about the merits of his 330d vs the old t5 , ended up getting a severe rollocking but that was it however if i had been prosecuted i would have no one to blame but myself

I know your feeling, I was done at 80mph by a camera van on the m6 clear day dry and all that but still got the ticket. Was offered a course so got away with points. For my car at the time 80mph was an achievement! Haha

That's the worst part of it! Its entirely my fault, 100% bang to rights! I was speeding, if I wasn't then I wouldn't be writing this now! I'm just so gutted, normally I'm an economy driver, like today when I went to East Midlands Airport I managed to average 51.9mpg!

I'm just more pee'ed off with myself than anything else!

Its only a 'cash cow' because people speed.
I followed car today that was doing 40 in a 50, come to the 30 limit I slow and they don't slow sailing pass a camera van at 40, later on in a NSL I catch up and overtake as she is still doing 40, further up another 30 so I slow to 30 and a few minutes later she is on my arse until we get to another NSL and I leave her behind.
I get home with a clean licence, she gets home with three points and a fine.

Default Call me speed king 32mph

Got caught by a white camera van 32mph climbing a hill along with all the other traffic in a 30 limit I opted for a speed awareness course and saved points on my licenced ,not sure all forces have this option.

All you need to do now is play the game and there's a fair chance you can get away it.
Never admit to any of these.
Plenty of tricks for getting off, do a bit of digging and you will be amazed at the loopholes out there.

Devon and Cornwall Safety Partnership operate to a MOE(Margin of error) of 10%+2 so given that equation 70mph +7% = 77mph+2=79mph ,it might be worth writing to them and asking for leniency if you are holding no other points.
I was caught doing 83mph in my V70 so busted it ,no room for begging LOL.
