The blue one in Perth?going to need a fair amount spent on it,the above mentioned repairs plus a new set of tyres, cambelt kit, full service and the service history has been lost,he said in the last year and a half he has only changed the oil and filter and will need the full cambelt kit ( possibly water pump),the car is nice and clean but as mentioned will need minimum mentioned above.

Yup. Realistically, I think it's a £700 car WITH an mot, worth about £300 as it stands. We shall see. Was offered a two owner 98 v70 awd last night, 2.5?, years ticket for £700 but the awd scares me.

Do you need AWD George? If not i'd say look for something simpler. Nothing wrong with the AWD system but it does use more fuel and if it hasn't been properly maintained, can cause probllems as it gets older.

As for the 850, from what the other guy has just said about it (assuming it's the same one) it's best avoided unless you can do all the work yourself and are prepared to shell out on a timing belt kit, water pump etc which is going to set you back £200+ and that's without sorting the ball joints and brakes/ABS.

Granted you may end up with a £700 car with a years MoT but you'd probably spend that (plus the purchase price) to get there.

Don't 'need' a car and am in no hurry. My Mrs wee z3 is at the end of its useful life and would like to replace it.

Offside Front Suspension arm ball joint excessively worn (5.3.4 (a) (i))

Is this likely to be an expensive fix? Cars history is good with few advisories, it's a 2.5 auto with few owners and zero rust but guy is asking top money for it. If I can get it down and mot not an issue am very tempted
If he wants top money why hasn't he got a fresh MOT on it ..?
you want about £750 knocked off to take care of those little things yourself ..

My thoughts exactly. No harm in viewing it and giving him a kick in the knackers offer. I have been buying bangers long enough to know the score by now!!

I have withdrawn interest in this car, nice as it undoubtedly was.

I am gonna have a look at the awd model, it's local, cheap and full mot. Would keep the rain off the dogs of nothing else. mrs does about 5 miles a day so fuel not an issue

I'd put money on it not being a working Awd.
Most are missing the propshaft and running Fwd only.
