Connect the hose for the boost guage with a tee piece onto the hose that comes off the recirculating valve on the turbo it goes directly to one of those connections you see in your 2nd pic and connect with the tee as near as possible to the inlet manifold for accuracy...

There is a large grommet down on the bulkhead where the bonnet cable goes through ...just pierce another hole in the grommet and push the hose through, it will come out just above the brake pedal and so is easily to get at to bring up and put wherever you want it...

I did it this way to my `98 T4...

Thank you, that is much clearer to me now and I forgot about where the bonnet cable goes through. This is why I was hoping someone else had done it on a phase 1 like mine.
