Engine: 2.3 F/Inj - Acid spill on the carpet

Just got a delivery from DHL

The acid battery was delivered on its side

It was dropped off with the address uppermost

When I picked it up I did not notice the arrows pointing sideways but turned it upright when I noticed

Opening it was a disaster. Acid spill..... My wife started running round in circles...what can I do

Lots of water, the carpet, its turning pink....dab dab dab!!!

Sent an email to Car Parts 4 Less with a photo 2hr delay on the phone.

Tried to ring 2 hr delay. 1 star for DHL but a 2hr delay on the phone contact.

Paypay 2 hr delay on request to hold payment.

The LION battery said to be £96.12 for £52.08 with free delivery!!

Glass of wine now.

PS Just collected a Volvo Battery for £82. Mobile for a lot of miles now.

That's a buggered battery then unless you replace the electrolyte that has leaked.

Had it happen on a sealed battery for the caravan, electrolyte leaked from the breather hole but unable to replace it as the cell plugs were sealed.
18 months service rather than the 5 years I would expect.

Plus you will end up replacing the carpet.

That cheap battery has turned out rather expencive.

I've asked for a replacement but see if PayPal can get my money back.

If It were me, I would be simply grabbing the chance of getting my money back, and buying a decent battery for a little more money. Cheap(er) usually equates to cheap.

This is why people have insurance / liabilty insurance Etc. Simply write to them explaining the situation and request their insurers details . Failing a response , use your insurers & let them recover any monies from the supplier /carrier

I would certainly not be adopting the fall back situation of notifying your insurers. If you do, you can expect a premium hike at the next renewal even if a claim is resolved as a no fault on your part. The simple fact that you have made a claim renders you a greater insurance risk.
I would avoid this route at all costs - pardon the pun.
