The book says to fit the glass in the rubber and then fit to the car - then fit the trim.

This is the way it is meant to be done as the trim is meant to help with the physical locking of the window in its place.

Perversely for most cars ¨they¨ recommend fitting the rubber to the window then fit the trim because it is easy to bend the trim in the way it is meant to be fitted...

...because the trim makes fitting the rubber and glass (with the trim in place) more difficult ¨they¨ say to use soapy water to help pull the rubber seal (with the string trick) into position...

Ah ha - looking at the link the recommendation is to fit the trim last as per the book.

Ho hum.

See how you get on - I warn you, however, that the trim is difficult to remove with out distorting it so putting it back in is gonna be a challenge.

I´ll be interested to hear how you get on as I hope to be doing this job soon too.
