Stu,

I'd second Phil's nomination of Bromleys in Chorley. However,
it's a bit of a journey and I don't think they have cars to lend you (I might be wrong) but their mechanic 'Eric' knows he's stuff and they don't rip you off: they fixed my alledged head gasket failure for £100 (a few hoses) instead of £1400 Warrington's main dealer wanted.

Let us know where you end up going, it's always handy to know another decent garage.

Whilst we are on the subject, I can heartily recommend DPS in the Lenton area of Nottingham (I moved down here a couple of years ago from Bolton - hence why I know Bromleys aswell)

It is a back street garage, with no plate glass or courtesy cars or anything like that, but is run by a guy called David Pengelly, who really knows his Volvos. He is always helpful and knowledgable and I would recommend him to anyone.

Oh, by the way, when you are there, check out his 'c' plate 740 pick up conversion, with the 3litre 204bhp lump fitted!

See the "update" note by me above. I used Low Hall service station and I was well pleased with the service etc.

Cheers

Stu
