Default My new Volvo 440 site...

Hi, Folks.

I've been busy building up my website for the last 2 months now. It's not much, but it gives people a good idea about what to expect from the Volvo 440 and to show them what can be achieved while working to a budget.

Oh - It's also my first ever attempt at a web site, so all in all, I think it's a pretty good attempt. The only draw-back is that the photos load a little slow. But when it's hosted for free, I can't really complain.

If you decide to have a look, please feel free to sign the guest book.

the address is www.dacvolvo.tk

Cheers now,

Dac...

Oi Dac ... NO!

If I want porn I go to a porn site ...

If I visit a Volvo site - I only expect to see Volvos ! (NOT Links&Fun/Sally and Friends etc)

Moderator - over to you ...

All the best

I'm inclined to agree, Steve - particularly the comment ' ... you should be over eighteen but I don't care if you're not ...'.

This type of entry could lead to a bar on ALL links from within the postings.

Now I need to think about whether I let my kids continue to use this site for Volvo information.

Hi, Folks.

thanks for the feedback.

Ha ha ha. The link to "Sally & Friends site" is a site that belongs to a friend. I expected that once the link had been clicked and the home page loaded up, it would make it pretty clear to folks that they were no longer in the "Volvo" section of life. So it's not really fair to say that anyone proceeded whilst under the false impression that thay were looking for Volvo 440s. LoL.

But all input is positive input. After having read your replies, I will remove the link as soon as I get home tonight at 7pm. (I'm in work just now). I've had loads of comments and positive feed back from loads of males (LoL), but as said above, I wouldn't like any children to wander onto the link, although why anyone would allow a child to surf the net un-aided, let alone, be on a Volvo site (As a child cannot drive) is a little unusual. But as I can imagine, does happen.

As I said, it's a free hosted site, and so the load speed can be a little slow at times. The photographs of my Volvo were taken with a high level of pixels in mind. I'm in the process of reducing the image size of each photo, so the piccys should load up much faster in the next few weeks.

Any other input, folks?

Cheers

Dac...

Hi Dac...

Forgot to mention-you ought to get a spirit level on those amps-they look a little wonky to me! lol... And there is nothing wrong with bolting your amps to the floor ;) (Say's Dan, looking at his boot floor panel!!)

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/photopos...cat=511&page=1

You've inspired me too....clicked on the link at the bottom of your hompage, in the process of building me own site now too.... Do you live in the UK? If so, where abouts?

Hi, Dan.

Ha ha ha, Yeah, I wanted something a little different. Hence the reason for the amp stands and the, erm "artistic" angles, Ha ha ha.

Building your website is fun and very, very easy using the Freewebs package (No HTML programming required). I had a few weeks to kill not so long ago and managed to stumble across their website. Having seen very little web sites on the 'www' for the Volvo 440, I decided to make my own. It's more of an online profile of my Volvo than anything else, but that's exactly what I was looking for.

I live in Scotland, North Lanarkshire, just outside of Glasgow, near Hamilton. I've heard of another Volvo 440 that seems to be located within the same area, similar looking to mine with red paint work, 17" alloys and complete with similar looking driver, but I've yet to have the pleasure of seeing the car, let alone meeting the driver.

Soon as you've started to create your web site, Dan. Email the address to dacvolvo@o2.co.uk and I'll have a little wander around and see how it comes along over the next few weeks...

P.S. That terrible 'Sally & Friends' link has been ternminated, folks. So it's now safe to use all Volvo sites again. Ha ha ha.

Cheers now

I see no need for the semi-naked girls, I find it rather off-putting. But more importantly, the images of the car are too small and too dark. The textual info is good though, and it's a nice car you've got, very nice indeed.

Cheers, George.

I totally agree. The piccys are small and dark - that's just Scottish weather for you! Ha ha ha...

Seriously though, the piccys were taken a few months ago and were never intended to end up on an internet site. They were just lying around on my hard drive when I started making my site. I do intend to compose some better photos as soon as I can find some spare time and a ray of sunshine through the clouds...

Concerning the "semi naked girls", it's only one girl and she's also my advertising banner on numerous sites and forums in the Uk. It's strange, from all the different websites, forums, emails and other feed back I've recieved from various people, there's been nothing negative to say concerning the Dacvolvo model with the exception of this site... Seems strange to me that having witnessed the reaction to a few innocent piccys of a female on my site, I've not heard of anyone complain about the Playboy Avatar that this site offers Users to display... (But I'm not complaining)

Most professional car modding sites have at least one female model. Mine is not naked or doing anything she shouldn't be doing. If you took your kids to the beach on a sunny day or to the swimming baths, you'd see more flesh right there in front of your eyes, so personally, I can't see a problem with having a nice face to brighten up a little website out there in the big www.

I can however, totally appreciate that any images in life can be offensive to some people. After all, we all come from different walks of life and have different beliefs about how things should be. If there is any real annoyance at the link to my site, then please contact the Moderator for this Forum (Bob) and ask him to remove the link from my original post above and from my Signature, as I wouldn't like to upset anyone. I will not be offended. My site was created as a place that people could look at in order to give them an small insight into the fact that Volvo's can be made that little bit more exciting. As I have written on my site's home page - "It's all for fun"

That's for the comments, George. Anyone else?
