XC60 2.0 litre or 2.4 litre
Hi,
planning to buy a second hand Volvo XC60 diesel. Can anyone tell me what the difference in fuel consumption is between the 2.0 litre FWD and the 2.4 AWD? Also any other differences that might sway my decision. Cheers, Sven. |

This is the forum for the new XC60. You are likely to get a better answer on there.

I'm running a 2013 2.4 D4 AWD and getting about 28 around town, it's a thirsty beast but love it!

Look at the published figures. You will not get anywhere near them unless you drive like a nun. What it will, give you us the % difference between the two. The rest is down to your driving style?
If you really want it go for he D5 you will not be disappointed.

Hi - I got a 2017 XC60 D5 AWD a month ago with 12k miles on it. It’s the old model, not the new one. I get about 36 mpg from a tank of mixed driving. I would think that 40+ mpg would be possible on a run, providing you stick to 70 mph. I’ve heard that mpg drops off considerably above 70 mph.
FWD and 2 litre engine will obviously be more efficient than that. The FWD D4 also has a newer 8 speed auto box, as opposed to the older 6 speed in the AWD models. However, after sitting in a 2 litre and a 2.4, I found the 5 cylinder smoother when idling. It is very smooth when driving and makes a more interesting noise when pushing on. And it’s quicker! Finally, I like having AWD. So I am pleased with my choice, despite the somewhat mediocre fuel consumption. |
