Bet it would be a challenge to get to the cotter pins and clevis pins that attach the master cylinders to the pedals with this thing in the way on an Amazon or a 1800. Also, it looks like your right shoe might bump into it when changing between the brake and the gas pedals.
I your car steers hard, add grease to the ball joints and tie rod ends by taking off the rubber boots and or replace the joints. At that time check to see that the idler arm swings back and forth freely with no looseness, and then get a good front end alignment done. For NORMAL DRIVING, have the shop that does the alignment set the caster at no more than 0 -.25 a degrees positive and the camber at .5 a degree positive (adds to high speed stability) and you have will lowest the steering effort possible with one of these cars. The Green Book contains these settings. Use a steering wheel that is at least 15" in dia. or the original that is about 16," SMALLER wheels raise the steering effort. If you install a PS unit and decide to sell your car at a later time, purists will tend to shy away from it and it may also sell for less than what it is worth. |
