Default TFT Dash - dimming switch

Can somebody else please check their car for me.....

Every now and then our dash seems to get suddenly bright (like this morning during the commute)

The dimmer thing by the light switch dims and brightens the centre console lighting but not the TFT screens

Is this normal or have i got a problem?

Thanks
Ian

I think there have been some posts on this. It appears that the dash brightness is controlled by a remote sensor which works independently from the lights. I dont have the TFT dispay but experience the same thing.

Default Lights

Maybe it's the auto headlights turning on or off

The dash lights respond to the outside light level such that if it's dark
enough their brightness is controlled by the dimmer switch. Once the outside
light exceeds some fixed level, the dash lights are run at full brightness
regardless of the dimmer switch setting.

I expect what you're noticing is the transition to full brightness.

It seems to coincide with the low light sensor switching between DRL and dipped beam. Dash full brightness with DRL and dimmed to your setting with dipped beam.
