Default First post and first Volvo

Hi All

I ordered my first Volvo on the 8th April and have an expected delivery date towards the 30th of May, no precise date has been given yet. I opted for the V40 D2 R-Design in Passion Red, was originally going to get the Rebel Blue but backed out at the last minute. Plus the dealer had another customer picking up a Passion Red one on the day we went in and seeing it changed my mind.

Decided not to put any options on it other than the larger multimedia screen. We did get a Gap insurance / Supaguard thrown in though and I was just wondering what people's opinions are on the Supaguard. Is it worth it? As we didn't pay for it I'm not that bothered, but never had it before.

Also what can I be expecting from delivery? I'm presuming it'll come with enough diesel to allow me to nudge it to the nearest Tesco's for filling up!

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Superguard is a good enough product, particularly if you are the sort of person who isn't in to polishing their car, but likes it to look decent after a quick wash and dry. However, it must be properly applied, which seldom happens in the dealers car prep bay where 'time is money' and it certainly isn't worth what some dealers try to charge, so take the 'free but worth £xxx' with a pinch of salt.

Any half decent dealer will put at least a couple of gallons of fuel in it - at least enough to put the warning light off, any more than that and you would need to have negotiated it as part of the deal.

One important bit of advice - in spite of the excitement you may be experiencing, take the time to go through the car with a fine tooth comb inside and out before signing the acceptance papers as finding a blemish or damage when you get home is more difficult to get resolved. All the easier if there are two of you - take your partner or a friend if you can. If the car is out in the rain on collection, either insist that they dry the car so you can inspect it properly or annotate the acceptance paperwork 'subject to inspection as car wet on delivery'. 99.9% likely it I'll be fine! but better safe than sorry! dealers have been known to hope you don't notice a blemish then when you see it a couple of days later deny responsibility.

Oh - a bunch of flowers in the boot to appease the lady of the house is also normally to be expected.
