No the water is not jetted through the wiper blades, the blades are normal blades,
(they are an exceptionally good wiper system though, if thats what you mean by not being normal)

If you look closely you will see that the water is sprayed on to the screen at the blades from the spray jets fixed to the wiper "arms".
The blades them selves are just normal Aero wiper blades and are not connected to the washer jets at all.

Video shows me removing and replacing one of my blades single handed in real time and nozzle fixed to arm.

That is a fantastic price. Have you tried this actual brand? If so were they any good?

Sorry, no I have not had to replace mine yet, I just posted that link to show what the blades are like and that they are readily available from other outlets cheaper than original Volvo blades. And those are described as exact fit.

They are definitely not aqua blades you are showing, just went and looked at mine and the holes are all along the wiper blade and they are also heated so if they are just normal blades how do they heat up.

Is there perhaps some confusion in this discussion between the XC90 ("flexiblades" and spray nozzles on the wiper arms)
and the XC60 (option 063: Aquablades, heated, spraying "through" the wipers) ?

The blades don't heat up; only the nozzles do.

Can I ask what model Volvo you are talking about.
I've just been out to look at my wiper blades and there is a bar running the full length of the blade, this bar must have in the region of 25 holes from which the water is put onto the screen. It appears to be a one piece blade, nothing like the Ebay version, which is just a conventional blade.

I've just watched the video and those blades are totally different from mine.

They don't, not on the XC90.
But they can on the XC60.

"Volvo is not unknown for being a genuine automotive industry innovator. Renowned for its orthopaedic seating, daytime running lamps and three-point safety belts, its latest windscreen wiper development needs to be included in its long list of broader, safety-enhancing benefits. Known as AquaBlades, which are produced by French automotive specialist, Valeo, in conjunction with Volvo, they feature water jets running the full-length of the blade, spraying water directly on to the windscreen. They incorporate an electronic sensor and heating element to ensure that they remain usable in any season. While Volvo is the first customer, they will become available increasingly from other brands. The primary safety is fantastic."

https://www.valeo.com/en/aquablade/

I wonder if these are actually heated? If so, replacing the blades presumably means replacing the in-built heating element. I guess a proprietary (patented?) replacement won't be cheap and may mean dealer-only fitting?

Good and clever as these are, the conventional blades with heated nozzles on the wiper arms on my XC90 work very well and are easily the best I've had on any car.

btw, if you Google 'aquablade' it comes back with results about toilets. I suppose someone didn't check who registered the name, if indeed either of the companies did.
