Default Hi all Newbie here wi 89' 740GL 52k!

Hello all,
i have just purchased a 1989 volvo 740GL in cream/white
it has had one owner from new and has covered 52k yes 52k from new, it has all original documents and every mot from new inc a fresh 12month one,
its not the estate one.
it has an original main dealer volvo spoiler on it along with the original rubber mats, owners manual and the seats are like new! it also has a tape in the glovebox from volvo!

i cant believe how good the condition is.

the body work is very very good as it has been dry stored from new,
i have the original purchase invoice also coming when they dig it out.

question is: i want to sell it as i bought it to sell on, the old chap was wanting to just get rid so i thought it was worth saving from scrap, it flew through the mot with 2 advisories,

whats it worth and where would be the best place to try selling it?

thanks in advance

James

How, exactly, can an inanimate object be 'honest'?

No advisories is flying through; two advisories means problems on the horizon.

As the previous poster stated, photos and an idea of price would be useful.

Unfortunately not all that much except to someone who realizes what a great car it most certainly is. And then not all that much more. I read that a vehicle hits its lowest value at about 20 years old, and that's where the '89 is now. Being in the US, mine's probably worth less no matter what since our society is much more throw-away than England's. Mine's only worth about $1,000 with just over 300,000 miles on it. With only 52,000 miles, probably about $1,500. Someone who would appreciate its condition would probably pay $2,000, but that's it. I would try to sell it here on the board. You would probably get the best price for it here than anywhere else.

How, exactly, can an inanimate object be 'honest'?

when the term 'Honest' is used to describe a vehicle it means that it is as it should be, not bodged, accident damage repaired or anything untoward with it.

The previous owner tells you? Haven't you seen it then?

yes its parked on my drive, they said it had only needed 2 ball joints an exhaust and some brake pads over its 21 year life span, and if you see the car you would also believe them.

No advisories is flying through; two advisories means problems on the horizon.

well if you class a small hole in the silencer and slight corosion to the rear offside flexi hose as problems on the horizon then you must be an extremely exciting person indeed. to me that is flying through, my 5 year old beemer needed allsorts doing last december in comparison.

i am suprised at your seemingly confrontational attitude, if you have nothing constructive to post then please dont become involved as you are clearly not looking to purchase.

As for price, well i thought that i would put it on an owners club as the people here would appreciate it more before it goes on the trader and ebay, i am completely open to someone coming and making an offer for it,i am also a member on bmwland, ftooc and transitvanclub and i know that there are some people that appreciate a good example

pics will follow as im having it valeted on monday, not that it needs much just to give it a spruce up!

thanks for the reply, its now up for sale completely open to offers on it, i thought the same about posting it on here, as i am a member on a few owners clubs and the best most genuine cars often go on there first to people that appreciate them the most.

cheers
