Default Adjusting my headlights XC60

My headlights are pretty poor. I have bought some Phillips H7 uprated bulbs, which will be here next week, but the drivers side headlight seems to have a black area, as opposed to the passenger side, which shines further forwards. So, I suspect the headlight is too low. Are the adjusters easy to get to , to raise the beam ? I will point the headlights to the garage door and aim to get them the same height. Any help would be great . Cheers

The adjuster is the white nut on the top of the headlight, very easy to adjust.

I would take it to Kwikfit or similar and get them to set the alignment using their beam setter, will only cost a few pounds.

Cheers Ian. Had a look this morning, found the headlight was wobbly !! Further inspection found the inner lug has been snapped off and the headlight connector also floating free. Thanks to the previous owner/ bodyshop that should have replaced the light, as I can see the front bumper has been painted poorly, I now have to get a new headlight. And they aren't cheap on first look.

Well, digging in the garage loft and I found some ducting gap foam strip ( I do air conditioning by work and its amazing what you find in storage ;-). Laid a layer of this under the headlight to support it, put the headlight back in and it seems as solid fixed as the passenger side light. Been out just now and stood at the end of the drive and the headlights seem the same height. Neither dazzle, so lets try that. Its a temporary repair, as £500 !! for a headlight unit is a 'bit' too much, so will look on fleabay over time and see what comes up. New brighter bulbs coming soon, so hopefully will be 40% brighter again on top.
Ooooh, non oem bargain !!

Depends how you define OEM, if it's Bosch or Valeo it might be OEM just not in a Volvo labeled box.

My own pre-cherished (hohoho) Volvo also came with a broken nearside wiring loom connector and retaining blade. Seems the dealers or first owners are quite adept at mangling the connectors.

Well, I have now fitted tonight, a pair of Phillips Extreme bulbs. Along with a 'bit of foam' to create 2 forward pointing headlights, which was obviously too much for the selekt tick sheet at the dealers to check worked and the MOT they supplied . I hope to have a pair of lights which wont leave a black hole in its beam. In fact I hope it gives the 'extra' 60% as per the nice little box it came in, to melt and smooth the tarmac in front of me and fill the potholes nicely. I will report back on all local rabbits suffering arc eye in the near future
