I believe that the one with the red wiring sheath is the low pressure pump as all of the later ones I've seen have a black sheath where as the only low pressure one I've had and sold had the red sheath.

The one with the red lead definitely looks the most similar to mine. I have also, to have as many options available as possible, bought a new low pressure pump and disassembled my sender assembly.
So my options would be: 1. Get my sender "cap" broken breather and corrosion repaired (I've rust treated it but it's pretty screwed) and rebuild my assembly with new low pressure pump & wiring. 2. Get the 940 low pressure assembly, disassemble and build a "hybrid" sender assembly with the 940 cap. 3. Get the 940 low pressure assembly and hope that it's plug and play (best option!!!) Have made contact with rwdkev and we're seeing if the forum provides any further pearls of wisdom before we make a call. Has anyone ever fitted a 940 sender straight into a 740/760? |

Update, for those who may be interested in my ongoing saga. So I cleaned up my sender “cap” and it had a few pin holes but wasn’t too bad. Someone on this thread recommended speaking to a local rad repair shop, which I duly did. Lo and behold they’ve been able to save it with a nifty repair, so it lives again. Low pressure pump ordered, and I’ll get on with reassembling with some new wiring, hoses and jubilee clips it will be as good as new.
Let’s hope this means I can finally get it started…otherwise I’ll be back on here! Thanks for the tips so far all. |
