I've just removed the sender unit out of my H reg 940 turbo to find its heavily corroded aswell. One of the only woes of owning a 30+ year old car would be trying to find decent replacement parts.

Noticed your only in Bromsgrove aswell, I work in Lydiate Ash.

I've never seen a green one, I've removed them from

1988 760 turbo saloon
1995 940 turbo estate
1995 940 turbo estate
1995 940 turbo estate
1996 940 turbo estate
1997 940 turbo estate
1998 940 turbo estate

They have all been black and very supple still.

Volvo only supply black ones to my knowledge, same part number is used for all 7/9xx models, my original was black, the new one in the Volvo bag was black :

Also black will be more durable than green as the pigment is stronger - same goes for most thermoplastics. Volvo should know this also so i can't see why they'd change to green. That said, when black rubber components are compromised with oil/petrol they can take on a green hue and that is often a sign of porosity. The irony is they usually still keep petrol/diesel in but allow water in easily. Would be better to let the fuel out and keep the water out so you'd at least know you had a problem.............

Also the old seal i removed from mine was still supple, it just hadn't returned to the size it should have been, meaning it had lost its elasticity. Because of that it didn't seal properly and produced the only MoT fail i've had during the ownership of this car when it dripped on the testers head.

Yes Luke - i know what you're thinking - Boss Hogg!

I'll have a look over the next few days as it's now in one of a hundred boxes!

Luke,

If that one is out of the silver estate, that's a late type for larger tank and pump is the single high pressure type surely.....??

Thank you...here's hoping it's a low pressure one (though in reality I'm only looking for the top part with the hose connectors, I assume I can potentially make good of two assemblies).

PS good to see there's a strong West Midlands contingent of Volvo fans

PPS happy to help hunt through boxes if it helps..

It was out of the 1995 green car we broke at Andy's house, he had a spare and I had a spare so we said you could have it... you spread your vulture wings wide and gripped it in your claws (that's an in joke between me, Andy and Kev for those wondering if I'm going nuts).

I believe it is a high pressure pump but the OP just wants the sender unit really.

I'm in Worcester so you are more than welcome to come down and bring your sender to compare it to my spare one and see first hand if there are any differences before Kev goes digging.

Meanwhile, if you’re worried about the gaping hole in your fuel tank I discovered that a CD makes an excellent blanking plate.
