Tyre Profile- 50 to 45 ?
Needing to replace the P6000's on my 850 T5 in the near future, been looking at prices, and it seems that 205/45.16's are cheaper than 205/50.16's. Can I fit 45 profiles on ok? What is the max width tyres I can use without having any rubbing problems? I think I'm gonna try a different make of tyre this time, any views on Uniroyal, Hankook & Falken? Thanks, Darren '94 850 T-5 |

RE: Tyre Profile- 50 to 45 ?
If you fit 45 profile tyres, your speedo will read fast, since the wheel diameter will be slightly smaller - your odometer will also read fast, shortening your service intervals.
You can get all this adjusted once you've made the change, but since a Volvo dealer will have to do it, any saving you made on your tyres will be more than absorbed by the dealer charge. Don't do if for that reason - if you want the better handling that lower profile tyres deliver, go the whole hog and get 17" rims etc. etc. |

Thanks for the link! I'll go take a look.
It's not that I can't afford the std tyres! If I was on that tight budget I might as well trade in for a Fiesta :o) It's just that a £120 saving for a new set of tyres seemed tempting! They wa I think of it is "If you've got a performance car, you gotta pay performance prices." Thanks Again, |

Doh'
Should have thought of that! Had the same thing on my motorbike, I apologise for my thick headedness! It was late and I was tired :P I have been keeping my eyes out for a set of 17"'s but haven't yet seen any that I like :(, they all seem too "Citroen Saxo boy" if you know what I mean. Will my 16" wheels fit straight onto an '95 850 2.5 20v? As my 18 year old son is looking to purchase one of these shortly. Regards, |
