Default Trackdays age your car.....?

Found this page whilst checking something.

http://www.torquecars.co.uk/driving/index.php

This particular paragraph grabbed my attention..

Quote:
Run and warm the engine but do not run on a track with a hot engine, if the cooling is not working and the temperature is rising then driving hard will cause serious engine problems. A track day will put a lot of strain of the car and reduce the cars life by about 2 years. Change the oil before and after ensuring that the level is just on the max mark and recheck half way through the track day when the car has cooled off at lunchtime.
Would people who regularly trackday their car agree with this?

Also in that vein, if this is widely agreed with, would it also reduce the value of the car somewhat? Im sat on the fence with my view of this, as people who tend to trackday cars also tend to understand them pretty well and will maintain them possibly better than others who dont regularly trackday their cars... possibly...note the possibly...
So the better care would maybe cancel out any 'wear' and devaluation imposed on the car from trackdaying..

Anyway, Your views?

not sure about this one, i love my motor and wouldnt have a prob driving her very hard on a track as long as everything is operating correctly.

id be more worried about overheating the ATF than doing any harm to the engine.

I'm chuckling as I read it right now lol.

Just a case of looking after the car as was said already.

Trackdays will cause increased wear on a car, but that just means stuff will need replaced a bit sooner, it certainly wont take 2 years off your car from doing one track day.

Having not done a track day, (well not yet anyway) i may be talking s**t but those who do stuff like that are more than likly those who take care of there cars more than say reguler joe soap,

Am currently in process of build a 309Mi16 to use on track and maybe road aswell if i can find someone who will insure it and thats getting nearly everything renewed on it, ie bushs, brakes etc before it goes anywhere near abit of tarmac

To take 2 years off the life of your car if used on track days is a bold statement to make imho, that’s 20k miles! Sure the car is driven to or on the limit, but are these cars not prepared for that purpose, and as been said, people who do track days care for their car more than anything else. I used to be a motorcycle courier and would drive my bike hard every day, my life depended on everything working top notch and my wallet depended on the bike being able to do the job. Frequent maintenance and daily inspections will see the longlivity of your vehicle.
