Yes, but do you put something between magnet and car to protect scratches etc??.

An unlikely consequence Steve. If the vendor protests, why?

As I’ve mentioned, the 145 at P’bro looks worth closer inspection!🧐

I have inspected many cars in the past with a magnet - in front of the vendor. I have never asked permission and never had protests from the vendor. In my view it is just a tool to help determine what I am looking at is what I would want to purchase. If the vendor protested at my approach I would soon be leaving his company and be looking elsewhere.

I have always tried to be polite, however, it is hard at times with some sellers. We went to look at a Mini Cooper for 'er indoors. I sat in the drivers seat and immediately got a wet backside. The interior had been washed but not dried and the seats were still soggy. I then lifted the bonnet and pulled the dipstick and bone dry. The vendor pleaded with me to buy and assured me he would fill the engine with oil. No thanks. If seeing a car that does not come up to scratch. I simply say : I'm sure the car is worth what you are asking, but it is not for me, and walk away.

Many thanks chaps, all responses most appreciated.

Message sent to vendor for Tuesday AM viewing, trouble is, I know I will set out with a list of cold hard questions / inspection on various parts of the car, only to see everything through rose tinted specs and buy a shiny pile of poop.

Cheers

I've no experience of LPG, so not sure what removal entails. However, looking at the photos again it explains two things that didn't look right. I thought the spare wheel had some sort of cover over it, but that will be the LPG tank in place of the spare - presumably the spare is missing. The black bracket attached under the rear bumper is presumably the LPG filler pipe. I would imagine it is a case of removing the tank and all associated pipework and plugging any holes in the inlet manifold.

P.S. the LPG tank being in place of the spare wheel is the reason the correct spare wheel cover is missing - the tank is much larger and the cover panel would not fit over it.

Why not run it on LPG if it's already converted Steve? It's much cheaper and also better for the engine and environment.

By the way, shouldn't be any holes in the inlet manifold as it's a carb engine. I can't see the pics because of the platform it's on.

Hi Dave,

Whilst in no way a deal breaker, the nearest LPG is in Ipswich i believe, be nice to tidy up the boot side panel for the hounds 🙄 and my gut feel is to remove to take away potential problems in the future. I may of course be completely wrong and talking out of my posterior……..

Cheers
