Default Exhaust (again)

Hi,

I posted a year-ish ago about my awful Chinese exhaust to see what exhaust other people fit to their 240s, but no-one really said. My exhaust was subsequently either repaired and a new one fitted by Volvo (they said they replaced it, but did they really?), but I had it on a lift over the weekend, and it is seriously blowing from three different places. Front silencer from around the pipe going in to the silencer, they have over-tightenend a clamp on the rear silencer, so the pipe now has a hole in it, and behind the rear silencer is also blows around the pipe entrance.

On top of that, something inside the silencers keep rattling as well.

Despite only being a year old, the Chinese stuff needs to be scrapped. Do I go to an exhaust shop and ask them to make a new one, or what is the best solution?

I gave up with mild steel exhausts a long time ago. I only sell and fit stainless on all my cars

At the moment all the 240 systems are hand built on Anglesey.

Hi Morsing

I did a post about Dai's exhausts a few months ago

My car is a B230F so similar and I fitted one of Dai's 2.25inch exhausts with CAT (mine's a 1991 car). Lovely burble, looks good from the back and allows the engine to run a little more freely than the hosepipe-sized effort Volvo supply as an exhaust. Definitely recommend this upgrade

I have a feeling that the broken inlet pipe on the front silencer is due to the mounting plate missing on the header pipe. Probably same reason one of the header-to-manifold studs have now snapped.

I've got a welder at home, and no welding skills, so I'm going to try and weld a new plate on to the header pipe and bolt it back on to the bellhousing bracket, and weld the inlet pipe to the first silencer.

I got rid of my mid muffler and put a straight pipe instead, goes and sounds very well, if that helps any.
Apparently mid muffler is just a resonance box.

I don't know what you mean by "Resonance box" but the middle box is a silencer.

Thanks
