Default Replacement wing mirror changing position

Hello,

Replaced the passenger’s wing mirror on my s60 2003 with a used one. Whole mirror with housing.
Now every time I open the driver’s door the mirror changes position, like it had some sort of memory from the previous vehicle.
Anyone had that issue before and knows how to fix it please?

Wait see what the others will say, but this is the first time I read this. I hope it doesn't also has its own module, but given I believe it's the mirror that has the exterior temp sensor that is also used by the engine, who knows.. Was it from a 2003 as well ?

Orangex I would not know what year it was from unfortunately.
I read that it is the same mechanism as in power seats. If you move the driver’s seat to a different position and keave it there, when you open the door using the remote the seat automatically goes back to it’s programmed position. Same thing seems to be happening to this mirror now. The difference being that the position is from a different vehicle, so I have to adjust it every single time I get into my vehicle. I was hoping the memory could be cleared in some way to stop this happening

Have you tried setting the mirror and seat to the desired position and then do a reset on memory settings with the normal system, you may get the mirror to store the new details.

Yes, tried the normal procedure of storing the desired position in memory but makes no difference to the mirror

Maybe try locking unlocking the driver's door three times with the fob, this should reset the alarm system. And disconnect the car battery overnight (have the ignition key in POS II when reconnecting) - this also resets a few computers: sign these had reset is the cabin blower speed knob will have no lights on it. Just a try.. but the more probable is there is some software to the mirror and it has some slight incompatibility.

It sounds to me as if the servo motor has got out of sync. When the mirror has taken up its wrong position try moving the mirror itself manually until it's at least close to the correct position- you'll hear gears clicking as it moves but if you don't do it too often it should be ok. Now see if it retains this position as you lock and unlock it.

I’ll give it a go wynnj, should it not work will try what you mentioned oragex.
It may actually not be a memory issue. The mirror will always move upwards same amount regardless of the position it was left in when the door was locked

Hi.
It sounds like it needs the Volvo VIDA reset. The car door module is not "seeing" the new wing mirror motor.
If you`ve still got the old mirror you could try taking the guts out and swopping out the motor.
