Key cutting in Swansea

Hi, trying to get a transponder key for a 1998 V40. Tried Timson "Can't cut it here try our other branch, but you will need the V5 doc and then they are not sure they can do it" and another reputable lock smith "Phillips ****** you will have to go to the main dealer, but take your cheque book". Main dealer quoted £250 with fobs and £150 for key on its own.
As I have a working key, does anyone know a local (to Swansea) auto locksmith who could duplicate it for me?

If you use the search function you will find a thread I started on replacement keys there is a place on the web who wil make a key from a photo and then you can get volov to program it, was £92. It's the ony way of doing it other than paying volvo best part of £220, trust me I tried all other avenues.

I had a similar problem a few months ago. I live in Chesterfield in Derbyshire (pop 100,000) and the main dealer wanted to charge me a similar price. After phoning numerous autolocksmiths and coming up blank, by using yell.com I found 2 Volvo specialist garages who could both provide a duplicate coded key. Mine eventually cost £70 for the key and an hours labour to programme it and remove all the others for £40 all plus VAT.

I'm a long way from you, but try looking for Volvo specialists and you should find somebody close.

I know Volvo can do a service key which is not chiped but will unlock the doors & steering lock.it costs about £50.
